Home Care Kit with Instructions Following Smile Design

Congratulations on your decision to enhance your life with a fantastic smile. The success of smile design is dependent upon the healing and health of your gum tissue between now and the placement of your permanent restorations. Your home care packet contains cleaning tools that may seem quite different from your regular toothbrush and floss. Each has a specific reason for its use in helping your gums heal in a proper and safe manner.

As you know, your teeth and gums have gone through an extensive procedure to enhance your smile. You should expect your teeth to feel a bit sore and rough to your tongue. It is normal to experience some discomfort from extreme hot and cold food and beverages for the duration of your temporization period.

Please follow the instructions carefully, and remember that an attractive healthy smile is only a few weeks away.

BRUSHING: You should brush your teeth 2-3 times each day. Use a SOFT toothbrush preferably electric, i.e. Rotodent, Braun or Sonicare. If you have a water-irrigating device such as a Water Pik these are all good aids in keeping your gums and temporaries healthy and looking good. You may find is more comfortable to warm your toothbrush bristles under warm tap water for the first several days. You will want to pay particular attention to the gum line of your teeth, keeping these areas free from plaque and food. You will want to rinse vigorously with mouthwash try to force mouthwash under and between the temporaries.

FLOSSING: You may have noticed that your teeth are now fused together and that you cannot floss normally. Your kit contains a tool called a floss threader. We encourage you to use this where you can. We will help you with using this device.

RUBBER TIP GUM STIMULATOR: This is a tool that helps massage your gums and keep the gum line clean and healthy. Point the tip in between your teeth at the gum line, with light pressure and run the tip along the gum-tooth junction. Repeat this process 2 times each day.

HYDROGEN PEROXIDE SYRINGES: Use the syringe and soft tip to irrigate your healing gums 2-3 times a day. Simply bathe the gum line with a slow and light stream of hydrogen peroxide, followed by rinsing out with warm water. Try not to swallow the peroxide. Use this as the final cleansing step of your home regimen.

DISCOMFORT: Take two Advil every four hours for the first two days; this will help with any discomfort and inflammation that might occur.

Advice our office of ANY changes, chipping, breaking or loose temporary restorations.

This might seem like a lot of work, but it’s worth it!!! Please do not hesitate to call our office if you have any questions.

LASTLY, SMILE AND ENJOY IT YOU DESERVE IT
